We really like this!  Among other companies …we found that AT&T will be  installing multiple Bloom Energy Servers, which utilize solid oxide fuel cell technology …at 11 sites in California.

Did we lose you at “solid oxide fuel cell”?…Whats that?  …why should I care? …sounds UN-interesting …WRONG!.  We’ll simplify …and you’ll like it.  A Fuel Cell is like a battery …except it always runs.  These “Bloom Boxes” are very Earth friendly both immediately and long-term.

One Bloom Energy Server (Bloom Box) will provide enough …mostly clean electricity …on-site …not from the aging power grid …for 100 average U.S. Homes …or a 30,000 sq. ft. office building.  Think what the added AT&T servers can do…  enough electricity …off grid …to provide over 62 million kilowatt-hours of energy each year… the equivalent of generating power for 5,600 homes annually…that’s a lot of healthy energy …we’ve been in towns with fewer homes.  And when the power grid fails …as it did recently in Southern California …no effect on the power supply from a Bloom Box.

Another measure … these will allow AT&T to reduce its carbon emissions by about 250 million pounds… in more relatable terms… a 250 million pound CO2 emission reduction is the comparable to removing 3,700 vehicles from the road.  Keep reading …it’s interesting.

We mentioned Planet Mars …Bloom Energy traces its roots to work at the University of Arizona as part of the NASA Mars space program. Dr. KR Sridhar… co-founder and CEO of Bloom… and his team were charged with creating a technology that could sustain life on Mars.

They built a device capable of producing …air & fuel from electricity, …and/or …electricity from air & fuel.  The implication for even more significant use on Earth was obvious to Dr. Sridhar… he acted on it …founding Bloom Energy.

In debating whether to save money or go green… companies have for too long …been forced to choose between …their budget and … their conscience… presuming of course they have one.   Bloom Energy is changing that paradigm.

Bloom allows a company to save money first!  The efficiency built into the fuel cell systems allow a typical commercial customer to achieve a 3-5 year financial payback… making it an easy and economically sound choice.  (ed: Hopefully AT&T will use some of the savings on reducing dropped calls.)

The “Bloom Boxes” will be installed at AT&T facilities in these California cities: …Corona… Fontana… Hayward… Pasadena… Redwood City… Rialto… San Bernardino… San Diego… San Jose… and San Ramon.   AT&T will be joining other well-known companies that already use Bloom Energy Servers including …Walmart… eBay …& Adobe.

We hope to see these, or similar, servers on every large company installation …every large building …across the country …soon.  Better air and cleaner electricity means better health and economics for both people …and Earth.
