It’s no secret that San Diego, California has the most perfect weather in the continental U.S. It’s a great vacation destination any time of the year. No mosquitoes, no snakes …well maybe few of the 2 legged type, little humidity, and an ocean side location. But where to stay in San Diego?
There are lots of high rise hotels, and a plethora of motels offering average stays that you can find in most U.S. cities. But we are always on the outlook for casual luxury, a place as elegant and travel worthy as our Casualmere® bamboo clothing. Well …we found one in San Diego …the Tower23 Hotel on Ocean Blvd. … on the beach just North of Mission Bay.
Whatever your superlative …cool …ultra-trendy …luxurious …it is that. Sleek, modernistic guest-rooms and suites present fresh design schemes featuring either a private balcony or patio …high-end amenities …teak furnishings …creating a California beachy ambiance of style and substance.
A main attraction is the bar/restaurant …JRDN Surf: Sky: Spirit …it is a new kind of oceanfront dining experience. A contemporary steak and seafood restaurant, JRDN features casually sophisticated California fresh cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. The ambiance and view are worth the trip.
From the patio deck to the oyster bar …TOWER Deck …Sunset Patio …main dining …or private Wine Room of the restaurant, the look of JRDN is fresh, cool, clean and upbeat. This is where you want to be sure to wear your Casualmere® bamboo tops or dress …to be as casual …cool …and elegant as your surroundings.
The atmosphere transforms from California casual to West Coast hip as sunset approaches. Each evening, the dramatic setting sun …for which the San Diego Pacific Beach area is famous. the JRCN features a 70-foot long “wave wall” at the back of the restaurant with changing-color lighting gives a theatrical effect all through the evenings.
Located on the second floor of the hotel the TOWER Deck gives guests an exclusive experience to enjoy spectacular sunsets. Grab a teak chaise or one of the beds strategically placed throughout the deck …order a glass of wine …or martini and be thankful you found out about this San Diego gem of a stay.
As you can see from the logo and images Tower23 does not signify a tower type hotel, but rather a beach identity with a lifeguard tower and its number …they are all numbered and are used by locals as addresses for beach meeting spots.
There is a lot to do in San Diego, it all depends on your preferences. You can do that research here. Fair warning …if flying in …the airport is a bit of a heart stopper. The approach is over downtown and drops in just under a hillside and over the 5 freeway …with San Diego Harbor immediately on one side …so be prepared. It’s not LAX.
Another hidden gem to share …nearby the Tower23 …on Harbor Island …at the end …you will find a unique …elegant …excellent dining experience …Tom Ham’s Lighthouse restaurant. As a tourist you are not likely to know of it. It’s been here since 1971 and is a functioning lighthouse …Beacon #9. Try it for a romantic evening away from the bustle of the wonderful downtown San Diego Gaslamp District, a do-not-miss.
